Hometown: Tenafly, New Jersey (best state in the USA)
Undergraduate School: Brandeis University
Medical School: New York Medical College
Hobbies/Interests: In my free time I enjoy playing videogames, I recently received a PS5 as a graduation gift and have managed to find time during residency to play in the evenings. I enjoy going on walks/hikes which Long Island has many opportunities. I love going to Avalon Nature Preserve in St. James and McCallister Sand Dune Park in Port Jefferson. I also am a big foodie and self-described food critic. To my surprise, Long Island has a relatively good selection of restaurants, most notably among Italian food, and Long Island’s famous oysters (you’ll have to come here to find out the best spots).
Why Stony Brook?: I applied to Stony Brook University and ranked it very highly for several reasons. Most notably, it is a well-known academic institution with phenomenal clinical training and very high fellowship match rates making it very desirable for my future career. It is the flagship of the SUNY system and is the largest academic hospital on Long Island which means its patient population is highly complex, both in the hospital and in the clinic, exposing its residents to rare medical conditions, complex patient management and high-quality learning opportunities. SBU is located close to New York City where my family lives but is in a very relaxing environment. Housing options are far cheaper than the city with much more room and it is nice to go out to the beach or explore cute small towns on my days off. Lastly, my boyfriend attends the 51±¬ÁÏÍø of Medicine at Stony Brook University and now we get to live together!
