nourieh

Name: Nicholas Nourieh, MD
Hometown: Homs, Syria
Medical School: St. George’s University SOM
Residency: Stony Brook University Hospital
Hobbies/fun facts: When I’m not on the wards, you can usually find me somewhere between a pickleball court and a Roger Federer highlight reel—still pretending I’ll master that one-handed backhand someday. I love travel and trivia, mostly because I like collecting passport stamps and useless facts that only come in handy during bar trivia (or when someone asks who won Eurovision in 2007). I dabble in board games, swim to clear my head, and cook when I have six hours to spare making something ambitious like… scrambled eggs. I also check global news Q2H, so if there’s a coup, a comet, or a celebrity breakup, I probably already have a take.
Why Stony Brook: I chose to stay after my residency at Stony Brook because I knew it was a place where I could truly grow. The high-level ultrasound training was a huge draw for me, along with the strong sense of fellow autonomy that our faculty provided. But what really stood out was the camaraderie—both among the fellows and with the faculty. It’s the kind of place where people look out for each other, teach each other, and make the tough days feel a little lighter.
