Interests:ÌýDr. Speers’ Laboratory, an NIH-funded laboratory in the Division of Neonatology of Stony Brook Children’s Hospital,
focuses on the mechanisms of the neonatal sepsis-induced inflammatory response and central nervous system inflammation.
Utilizing in vitro blood and tissue culture models and in vivo murine models of neonatal sepsis. Dr. Speers’ Lab aims to develop
anti-inflammatory pharmacological therapies designed for use in neonates that can improve survival and developmental outcome
and mitigate organ injury of infected term and preterm newborns.
